Part 1 LGBT Business Enterprise Certification 101
Owners of LGBT Business Enterprises and Lisa Howe, CEO of the Nashville LGBT Chamber will give small business owners the information they need to get certified, leverage that certification, and prepare a Capability Statement.
Specific topics include:
- Why & How to get certified
- Attending the NGLCC International Business & Leadership Conference
- How to prepare a capability statement
At the NGLCC conference, in August, LGBTBE's are matched up with potential contractors. It could be anyone from
Aetna to Warner Brothers. The LGBTBE needs to have a capability statement, so the two parties can quickly determine if the LGBTBE is a good fit.
In Part 1 of the LGBTBE Workshop, we will introduce the Capability Statement. In Part 2 of the LGBTBE Workshop, in June, participants will bring their capability statements to be evaluated by peers and buyers. Attendees will get feedback to help them take their best capability statement to the NGLCC conference in August. Whether or not one is attending the conference, having a good capability statement will help small business owners fill out RFP's, apply for loans, and more.
The time to get certified is now. By becoming a certified LGBTBE, businesses are able to build relationships with America's leading corporations, generate prospective business and clients, and collectively team with each other for contracting opportunities. It still takes time to build those relationships. Get certified before May 1st and get started.
